AUBURN, Ala. — Covering prolific Oklahoma wide receiver Dede Westbrook, who was a Heisman Trophy finalist, in the Sugar Bowl will require a group effort for Auburn’s secondary.
Westbrook is fifth nationally with 1,465 receiving yards, and his average of 19.8 yards per reception is the highest of any of the 34 receivers with at least 70 catches nationally. He has 16 TD catches, tied for fifth-most in the nation.
Westbrook typically lines up on the offense’s right side of the field, and he more than likely will be covered by different Tigers defenders, depending on which look defensive coordinator Kevin Steele gives the Sooners’ offense.
