Auburn men’s golf leads after NCAA Championship 1st round morning wave

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – The No. 20 Auburn men’s golf team fired a 6-under 282, its second lowest NCAA Championship opening round, and leads after the morning wave on Friday at Rich Harvest Farms. Jacob Solomon fired a 5-under 67 while Matt Gilchrest carded a 3-under 69.

Solomon’s 67 is tied for the lowest opening round in Auburn NCAA Championship history with Gilchrest in 2014 and NCAA Champion Chip Spratlin in 1995. It is tied for the second lowest round in the Tigers’ NCAA Championship history behind Kevin Haefner’s 66 in the third round in 2000.
