Auburn’s search for a new head softball coach ended today with the announcement by AD Jay Jacobs of the hiring of Mickey Dean to take over as the new skipper for the Tigers.
Dean comes to the Plains from James Madison where he had a .809 winning percentage (237-56) in five years. His last two years with the Dukes saw 50 and 52 win seasons. He has coached 11 years on the college level and six in the pros.
He was the head coach for the Chicago Bandits from 2004-10, guiding Chicago to the National Pro Fastpitch regular season championships five times, winning the title in 2008.
