Football is not a matter of life or death. But for Anthony Ray Hinton, Auburn football was his life while living on death row.
“That was my ray of sunshine,” said Hinton, at left in the above photo. “That was my hope, and I always dreamed, I always thought about what it would be like to be on that field with those players.”
I first became aware of Hinton on November 20, when Auburn play-by-play broadcaster Rod Bramblett sent this tweet following the Tigers’ win the previous night over Alabama A&M.
Met Ray Hinton last night…30 years on death row, until proven innocent.
