Auburn football quarterback Joey Gatewood, left, and quarterback Bo Nix, right, listen to Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn game plan at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Ala., on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019.
Former Auburn football QB Joey Gatewood is on his way to his third school in as many years after announcing his intentions to transfer from Kentucky on Sunday.
Gatewood played his first two seasons on the Plains before making the inter-conference jump to Mark Stoops’ Wildcats in 2020.
The dual-threat signal-caller from Jacksonville will not get the chance to suit up in 2021, but he will be utilizing his COVID-19 extra year of eligibility in order to extend what some would consider to be an underwhelming career thus far after being ranked the #49 commit in the Class of 2018.
