Auburn’s brief run at the Southeastern Conference came to a disappointing end on Thursday at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium, as the Tigers were eliminated by No. 6 Florida, 11-2, on the third day of the tournament.
The loss sent Auburn packing back to the Plains, where it will await its NCAA fate on Monday when the field of 64 is announced at 11 a.m. There might not be much suspense, either, despite a 3-7 finish to the season.
“Our name is going to get called; there’s no doubt in my mind,” Auburn head coach Sunny Golloway said. “When our name’s called, it’s not something that’s going to be an alarm.
