“I really like where we're at at the end of the spring,” Malzahn said following Saturday’s A-Day game. “I think we're in a good spot. Now, we've got all kinds of things we need to improve
on, but at least, as coaches, we know what they are.”
The Tigers entered the spring with three main objectives: understand and execute the base offense, defense and special teams; get back the physical and mental “edge” the team felt it lost toward the end of last season’s 8-5 campaign; and develop trust between players and coaches.
After losing eight starters on the offensive side of the ball and installing a completely new scheme on the defensive side, the coaching staff felt encouraged as the team closed out spring camp this week.
