Before Monday’s NCAA Selection Show, Auburn baseball’s post season destination projections ranged from East Carolina to Oregon. Good news came today when they found out they will be playing close to home. Butch Thompson’s Tigers were announced as the No. 2 seed in the Atlanta Regional.
The selection marks the Tigers 22nd all-time NCAA appearance and the first time in 16 years that Auburn will be playing in their third consecutive NCAA Tournament. After a heartbreaking early exit from the SEC Tourney last week, Auburn still has a chance to make it to Omaha.
Head coach Butch Thompson said it’s a chance at a new start.
