Auburn baseball won it’s third-straight Capital City Classic, its eighth of the nine total, with a 4-3 victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide. Jay Estes, who is fourth in batting average for the Tigers with a .299 average, earned MVP honors despite going 3-for-3 at the plate.
Estes was recognized for his defensive play, with two late-inning outs that secured the scrappy, one-run victory. Although Estes regards himself as an infielder, he volunteered to take duties in the outfield.
In the sixth inning, right fielder Daniel Robert got the ball to Estes who then relayed it to Josh Anthony, stopping Chandler Taylor stretching a double.
