DESTIN, FLA. – Less than 24 hours after SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said the only people talking about Auburn moving to the East Division is the media, Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs lobbied for his school to change divisions.
Having surveyed the landscape since Missouri (to the East) and Texas A&M (to the West) were added to the SEC in 2012, Jacobs thinks a restructuring might be in order.
“Maybe it’s time to look at that some more,” Jacobs told a group of a dozen media members at the SEC spring meetings.
Jacobs said moving Auburn to the East isn’t all about student-athletes.
