Who saw this coming? On a weekend where the Auburn baseball team couldn’t buy a spot on national television for its NCAA Regional appearance, the softball team was capturing the hearts of millions on ESPN. It was enough to make you want to get a piercing in your ear cartilage and put an orange-and-blue ribbon through your hair.
Over the course of two days I watched more softball than at any other time in my life. I was not alone. With the text messages flowing and Twitter blowing up, I knew I was not alone. The manliest of guys were suddenly in the throes of Auburn softball.
