Alabama and Auburn are hunting for defensive coordinators, and each could get their man Friday if speculation holds true.
Each school lots its coordinator to a head-coaching job. Alabama’s Kirby Smart left to become Georgia’s coach, though he will be on the sideline during Alabama’s postseason. Auburn’s Will Muschamp left to coach South Carolina.
The Tide wants Jeremy Pruitt, who had been Georgia’s DC, to return as Smart’s replacement. Pruitt is a former Tide secondary coach. Auburn, meanwhile, wants Florida State’s Charles Kelly, an Auburn alum, to replace Muschamp. Coincidentally, Kelly replaced Pruitt as FSU’s defensive coordinator Pruitt left for Georgia after the 2013 season.
