The Auburn Tigers have turned all of their attention to recruiting after wrapping up spring practice last week, and head coach Guz Malzahn is certainly making good use of that time. Here's all the latest news and rumors surrounding Auburn football recruiting:
Auburn leads for 3-star LB
Three-star linebacker Kenney Britt (Oxford, AL) revealed that Auburn is now his favorite after visiting them on Sunday, just one day after attending Georgia's spring game and saying the Bulldogs were at the top of his list. Why the sudden flip back to Auburn?
"Just them expressing how bad they want me and how fast I could play," he said.
Britt isn't expected to announce a commitment until August 8. He is ranked as the No. 25 inside linebacker and No. 669 overall player in the 2017 class.
4-star commit to flip to UGA?
Four-star athlete Alaric Williams (Gadsden, AL) has been committed to Auburn since July 2015, but Georgia is making a push to steal him from the Tigers. Williams took a visit to Athens over the weekend, and he told 247sports that UGA head coach Kirby Smart is selling him on the idea of playing right away at running back.
"The Georgia visit was fun," Williams said. "The atmosphere was fun. I really like Coach Dell McGee and Coach Kirby Smart. Right when I got there, they took me to Coach Smart's office before his team meeting. They told me they will be really low on running backs after this year. Nick Chubb and Sony Michel will be gone after this year, so they will take two, and they really want me to be one of the two. Even though I am committed, they are recruiting me really hard and I have a chance to play early there.
"Georgia is just a really cool place. There is a different vibe there. I really love it. The fans are great. The atmosphere was unreal. I went to Auburn's spring game and Georgia's spring game, and they were just totally opposite. It was just crazy for a spring game. It felt like a real game. Like I said, Georgia is a really cool place."
Williams is ranked as the No. 8 athlete and No. 139 overall prospect in the country.
Top JUCO OT plans to visit Auburn
City College of San Francisco offensive tackle Elliot Baker announced plans to visit Auburn soon after being offered a scholarship last week.
"I am pretty sure I am going to Georgia next weekend, then hopefully I can get to Auburn soon," he said. "I am going to evaluate other offers soon and I am trying to get my visits out of the way before the season starts. When fall gets here my playing schedule gets pretty hectic."
Baker took an official visit to Mississippi State last weekend, and they join Georgia and Auburn in his top three.
