Four-star Ellenwood (Ga.) Cedar Grove defensive tackle Antwuan Jackson committed to the Auburn Tigers on Thursday over scholarship offers from Ohio State, Florida and Georgia. He had made official visits to Ohio State, Florida and Auburn before making his decision.
According to several sources, proximity to his home in Ellenwood was the reason why Jackson chose Auburn over his projected runner-up, Ohio State. Jackson made two unofficial visits to Columbus to meet with the Buckeyes, but had several more impromptu meet-ups with the Tigers.
Jackson had a state-record 52 tackles for a loss during his junior season, tallying 93 tackles in total with 11 sacks. Cedar Grove finished with a 11-2-1 record.
A huge signing for an Auburn defensive pool in need of a fresh influx of front-seven talent, Jackson is one of the most highly-coveted defensive tackles in the nation. He holds 42 offers in total and has 16 coach visits already during his recruiting cycle.
Ranked as the #55 overal prospect in the Class of 2016 by 247Sports, Jackson is also the #8 overall defensive tackle in the class. He's ranked #5 among all recruits in Georgia.
