In this Auburn football news update, regardless of all the fanfare of Georgia Bulldogs running back Todd Gurley's return on Saturday, one of the main storylines heading into Saturday's huge Auburn/Georgia tilt is whether or not Georgia can contain the Auburn Tigers' beyond-efficient offense.
Auburn's offense ranks third in the nation in ESPN's team efficiency rankings, only trailing the high-powered attacks of Oregon and Baylor. Georgia is ranked fifth.
Per David Ching of ESPN.com, "that’s largely because of quarterback Nick Marshall -- a former Georgia cornerback -- Cameron Artis-Payne, Corey Grant and the other Tigers’ abilities on outside runs. On runs outside the tackles, Auburn leads the SEC in rushing yards per game (149.1) and runs of 10-plus yards (49) and is tied for the lead in touchdowns (13)."
Georgia was absolutely besieged by the Florida Gators' outside rushing attack in a 38-20 upset loss a couple weeks back. Expect Auburn to keep with their trend in 2014 and attack the edges early and often on Saturday.
