A new, intriguing matchup will happen in the SEC this coming weekend: a game between Auburn and Mississippi State. Both teams will be aiming to start their conference schedule on the right foot.
Auburn Tigers head coach Gus Malzahn told ESPN that a win can give his team some nice momentum to start their conference schedule in a positive way. He added that it will be a huge game to tackle.
Mississippi State needs a big win this coming Saturday after getting off to a 7-0 start during the previous season. Already 1-2, another loss can jeopardize their chances of making it to a bowl game this year.
Of course, Auburn also needs this win badly. Auburn hasn't won an SEC game in almost two years, and Malzahn was still the offensive coordinator then when they won their last conference game. Last season, they finished with a 0-8 record in the SEC, their first year without a conference win since 1980.
Saturday's game will be a huge one, and since it's the first SEC game for Malzahn as head coach for the Auburn Tigers, he completely understands what's at stake and how much they need the win.
