The Auburn Tigers have a golden opportunity to flip a major wide receiving commit from an SEC rival, with four-star Georgia pledge Darius Slayton visiting the campus this weekend.
Slayton, who 247Sports ranks as the 15th best wide receiver in the Class of 2015, has been recruited at cornerback by the Tigers since his junior season. However, it was only after shifting their strategy to recruit him at his chosen position (receiver) that the wheels really got turning.
The 6-foot-1, 182-pound speed demon told reporters that an unspecified Auburn assistant visited him earlier this week. It was likely to be receivers coach Dameyune Craig, who is working as a recruiter around Slayton's homebase in Atlanta.
The Greater Atlanta Christian School wideout has been committed to Georgia since December, and is the cousin of former Auburn linebacker Darrel Crawford.
While it's too soon to tell if Auburn has a fully legitimate chance to flip Slayton, they at least have one foot in the door this weekend.
