Atlanta United got exactly who it wanted in the first round of the 2019 MLS SuperDraft, held Friday in Chicago, when the team selected UCLA’s Anderson Asiedu with the last pick of the first round, the 24th selection overall.
“We are very fortunate that we had the chance to pick him,” Atlanta United manager Frank de Boer told reporters in Chicago after the day was done. “He was our number one pick. And you can say ‘oh, well of course you’d say that,’ but it’s really true. He was the most valuable player of the combine.
