It was already set to be a night to remember for Miles Robinson, who was making his 3rd international appearance for the United States men’s national team and his 1st-ever start with the program.
With the U.S. enjoying a comfortable lead against Trinidad and Tobago, though, the Atlanta United centerback figured he would get in on the scoring as well. A free-kick to the right of the box found Aaron Long, whose header found a diving Robinson to increase the U.S. lead from 4-0 to 5-0.
Robinson is hoping to put himself into the conversation for the upcoming Concacaf Olympic qualifiers, and moments like this will help immensely as the men’s side seek to qualify for the Summer Games for the first time since 2008.
