On Thursday, Suwanee product Efrain Morales signed a Homegrown Player contract with Atlanta United set to take effect on January 1. On Saturday, he found himself in Tony Annan’s team sheet for Atlanta United 2’s USL Championship tilt at the Charleston Battery. As it turned out, Morales would find himself called into action almost immediately, making his pro debut for the 2’s in the 21st minute in place of an injured Patrick Nielsen.
That in and of itself would make it a night to remember for the 16-year-old defender, but it got even better in the 52nd minute with ATL UTD 2 leading the Battery 1-0 on the road.
