Two Atlanta United players called-up for international duty

Atlanta United announced today that two players have received international call-ups for the upcoming FIFA window. Josef Martinez (Venezuela) and Romario Williams (Jamaica) have each been called-up to represent their respective senior national teams for matches from Sept. 7-11.

Martinez, 25, has broken multiple MLS records this season, highlighted by scoring his 28th goal against Orlando City SC on Aug. 24, which broke the league’s single-season record for goals in a season. Overall in 2018, he’s scored 28 goals in 27 games and had a nine-game scoring streak snapped against D.C. United on Sunday. Martinez has scored in 13 of his last 15 matches for a total of 20 goals.
