Atlanta United will be without back-up striker Romario Williams for the rest of the MLS Cup playoffs. The club announced on Monday that the Jamaican international suffered an ankle injury in training ahead of the second leg against New York City FC.
Williams has one league goal on the season and has featured largely as the team’s main back-up to Josef Martinez and Tito Villalba. He’s appeared in 17 games this season.
Without Williams available, back-up striker options are limited to Brandon Vazquez. The versatility of Villalba is key if anything were to happen to Martinez in the final few playoff games.
