OFFICIAL: Gabriel Heinze is Atlanta United’s new manager

The wait is finally over. Atlanta United have their new manager. The club announced today that it has agreed to terms with Gabriel Heinze for the Argentine to become the third-ever manager in Five Stripes history.

This puts to rest a six-month long search for Frank de Boer’s replacement. Heinze’s arrival in Atlanta is clearly an aim to return the team back to its original roots of being exciting and attacking. The former Velez Sarsfield manager is known for his Marcelo Bielsa-inspired style of high pressing and extreme width.

“This is a milestone moment in Atlanta United history, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome Gabriel as our next head coach,” Club President Darren Eales said.
