New York City FC have officially announced the signing of Georgia United product and US international, Juan Pablo Torres.
Torres, a 19-year-old Lilburn, Ga. native, played under Atlanta United’s Tony Annan while with Georgia United and eventually found his way to the Belgium Jupiler Pro League in 2017. He’s spent the last two years at Sporting Lokeren, making two appearances for the senior team.
The midfielder has also featured several times for the US soccer youth teams, most recently scoring four goals in seven appearances for Tab Ramos in the 2018 U20 CONCACAF Championship.
Torres will look to stand out among a crowded midfield lineup and has already been suggested as a potential replacement for Yangel Herrera, who’s loan to NYCFC ended at the conclusion of the 2018 season.
