Atlanta United have announced that it will be without Mikey Ambrose for three to five weeks as he recovers from an injury to the meniscus in his right knee.
Ambrose played all 90 minutes at left back in Atlanta’s 2-0 loss to the Columbus Crew, its last match before a two-week break. He was also slotted at either wingback position in both legs of the Concacaf Champions League quarterfinals against Monterrey, and played right wingback in the MLS opener at D.C. United in early March.
With George Bello - who hasn’t played since Atlanta United 2’s season opener against Hartford Athletic on March 9 - still out for an undisclosed period of time, Brek Shea appears to be the option for Frank de Boer as Atlanta United travels to take on the New England Revolution on Saturday.
