Atlanta United midfielder Miguel Almiron was voted as the Alcatel MLS player of the week by the North American Soccer Reporters. Almiron scored twice in Atlanta’s 4-1 victory over the Montreal Impact Saturday.
Almiron is on an absolute tear this season as he’s now tied for the league lead in goals (six) with Josef Martinez and has four assists as well. According to American Soccer Analysis, Almiron leads MLS in expected goals (xG) with 7.19 and xG Chain with 10.43. xG Chain includes all players involved in a buildup leading to a shot and totals the xG from those shots.
