Gbenga Arokoyo, who was acquired by Atlanta United from the Portland Timbers as part of the Darlington Nagbe deal, has joined Swedish club Kalmar FF on a three-year deal.
“He underwent a medical examination on Wednesday and has joined his new teammates in training camp,” reads the official statement from the Allsvenskan side. “Gbenga is a player who knows the league very well and has done well during his time there,” said manager Thomas Andersson-Borstam. “There was an opportunity to get him home, which feels very good.”
Although moving a player that has only been with the club a few months may seem odd, it clears additional funds to make other moves in the future.
