For the 753rd time in three seasons, Atlanta United is set to take on the Charleston Battery. These two teams meet in the U.S. Open Cup for the third straight season. Atlanta took the previous two matches, both played at home. This time the Five Stripes will travel up to MUSC Health Stadium, a venue they know well from playing in the 2017 and 2018 Charleston Challenge Cup preseason tournament.
Frank de Boer has already stated his intentions of taking this tournament and match seriously. The Dutchman will be without several of his usual starters with Josef Martinez out on international duty and Julian Gressel, Brad Guzan and Leandro Gonzalez Pirez already confirmed to not be traveling, according to the AJC.
