Atlanta United today announced that goalkeeper Brad Guzan has been named to the United States Men’s National Team roster for the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The Gold Cup, which runs from July 7 to July 26, consists of 12 countries playing for the regional championship of North America, Central America and the Caribbean. The U.S. will open group play against Panama on Saturday, July 8, at 4:30 p.m.
Guzan, the 2015 Gold Cup Golden Glove winner, is one of three goalkeepers on the roster. He’s joined by D.C. United’s Bill Hamis and NYCFC’s Sean Johnson. In total, 16 players from MLS made the USMNT roster, including roster mainstays Alejandro Bedoya (Philadelphia Union), Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City) and Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City).
