Atlanta United drew Costa Rican club C.S. Herediano in the Round of 16 for the 2019 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League Monday night during the tournament’s official draw.
C.S. Herediano, from the city of Heredia, Costa Rica, qualified for the 2019 Concacaf Champions League after winning the 2018 Concacaf League, an annual competition between teams from Central America and the Caribbean. The club has qualified for Concacaf Champions League seven times, with its best performance coming in 2015 when it advanced to the semifinals and lost to Mexican side Club América. Herediano has won the Costa Rican Primera División 26 times, the third-most in the league’s history.
