Nothing went right for Atlanta United on the field Thursday morning in its second game in the MLS is Back tournament. A 26th minute red card to Jake Mulraney meant the team was stranded on a hot, humid, god forsaken pitch, where Atlanta eventually fell to FC Cincinnati—arguably the worst team in MLS 0-1.
It’s never a good sign when, through two games in a tournament, the fans award the highest rating of any player on the team to the goalkeeper... twice. It’s a worse sign when, in this particular game, Guzan himself was caught off his line and left him unable to save a long-range attempt from Franky Amaya.
