Capping off a grueling three-match coast-to-coast week with a win at Mercedes-Benz Stadium was quite a moment to celebrate. But for Atlanta United players and staff, it was just them keeping up the high standards they hold for themselves.
“I don’t know if it’s a confidence boost,” Jeff Larentowicz said after the match. “I think it was a goal that we set. Somehow, Wednesday, we achieved the three. Tonight, it made it nine. We set the goal. We reached it.”
But despite the tough schedule congestion, this wasn’t the Five Stripes limping over the line. It was Atlanta United at their best, with a suffocating press on defense and a lethal counter attack.
