The United States came away with a 3-0 win over India in the opener of group play in the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup. Despite a few waves of pressure by the hosts, the U.S. weren’t tested all that much and sit atop Group A with three points.
Despite a shaky first half, Atlanta United’s very own Andrew Carleton showed some improvement in the final 45 minutes and got in on the scoring with his team already up 2-0. After a nervy bit of play that saw India threaten to half the American deficit, George Acosta gained possession and chipped a perfect pass forward to Carleton.
