Some cities are born to be sports cities. Atlanta is not one of them.
Despite being home to teams representing three of the big four professional sports leagues in North America, Atlanta has almost always been ridiculed as being a fair-weather city.
When the Atlanta Falcons win, fans show up. When they lose, the Georgia Dome is near empty. Atlanta Braves teams spoiled their fans with their winning ways throughout the 1990s and early 2000s and the lack of appreciation would show up on attendance sheets.
Yet again we are seeing it this year with the Atlanta Hawks.
