What will Malcolm Delaney bring to the Hawks?

The Hawks made an unexpected free agent acquisition on July 3rd when Malcolm Delaney signed a guaranteed two-year contract to play for the Hawks. The 27-year old guard from Virginia Tech went undrafted in 2011 after a storied career with the Hokies. His 2,255 points ranked third all-time in Virginia Tech scoring, and he coupled this with 543 assists, which ranks second. He set records for his proficiency at the free throw line, where he affixed himself as the school’s all-time leader in free throws made (721), attempted (853), and the highest free-throw percentage in school history (.845).

Delaney went unpicked by all 30 teams in the 2011 NBA Draft, mostly due to questions about his size.
