After several days of rumors and speculation regarding potential changes to the Atlanta Hawks front office structure, the organization finally put out a formal statement today regarding how the restructuring will be managed. The short version is that Coach Mike Budenholzer will no longer have a formal role in the front office, although he will remain involved in personnel decisions. Wes Wilcox is out as the GM but is being retained as a special advisor to ownership.
The search for a new leader of basketball operations is in progress.
Now, we are learning, per Marc Stein of ESPN, that Joe Dumars and David Griffin could be targets in the organization’s search to replace Budenholzer as head of the Hawks front office.
