The Hawks acquired point guard Jeremy Lin in a trade with the Nets late Thursday, according to a report by ESPN, in the first major move this offseason by the team following the NBA draft.
The acquisition of Lin and the first-round draft selection of Trae Young could signal the end of the Hawks’ tenure for Dennis Schroder. The Hawks starting point guard the past two seasons has been the subject of trade rumors for nearly a year.
General manager Travis Schlenk told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he would use the trade market, not free agency, to continue to build the roster with approximately $20 million in salary cap space.
