With the game tied at 101 and the final seconds of the clock ticking away, Washington's Paul Pierce banked in a shot over Dennis Schröder to put a furious 21-point Hawks comeback to rest.
By hitting the game-winner, Pierce supplanted Mike Muscala, who was nearly the hero for tying the game on a three-point shot with 14 seconds left.
The Hawks finished the game largely with players from the bench. The reserves were the ones who mounted the comeback, and for the most part, head coach Mike Budenholzer left them in the game.
