On Aug. 4, the Atlanta Hawks will be represented in the NBA Africa Game 2018, with second-year big man John Collins participating on “Team World” in a contest against “Team Africa.” The game will take place at Sun Arena at Time Square in Pretoria, South Africa and it is the third game in African in conjunction with both the NBA and NBPA.
Team Africa will be composed of players born in Africa or with direct family ties to the continent, with Team World made up of players from the rest of the world. Team Africa will be coached by Miami Heat assistant coach Juwan Howard and Team World will be coached by Spurs assistant coach Ettore Messina (Italy).
