Hawks to release Jaylen Adams

The Hawks will waive Jaylen Adams on Saturday, releasing the point guard before his $1.45 million contract for the 2019-20 season becomes guaranteed, according to a person familiar with the situation. The deadline for the contract guarantee is July 19.

The Hawks signed Adams to a two-way contract last season and converted to a standard NBA deal in February. He appeared in 34 games for the Hawks last season and averaged. 3.2 points, 1.9 assists and 1.8 rebounds in 12.6 minutes.

Adams played for the Hawks in the Las Vegas Summer League. The Hawks ended the tournament with a 2-3 record after a 80-72 win over the Spurs in a consolation game Friday.
