In the locker room of the Atlanta Hawks, each member of the team has a nameplate over the top of their locker. On the nameplate is the player's name, number, college (if applicable) and hometown. For example, one sign reads 'Malcolm Delaney / #5 / Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University / Baltimore, MD'.
Just to the right of Delaney's locker is a placard that reads simply 'Dwight Howard / #8 / Atlanta, GA'.
Howard left his hometown as a teenager when he made the leap from Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy to the NBA as the top pick of the 2004 Draft.
