Dennis Schroder has elected not to play for the Germany team for national team duties for the rest of the summer, reports John Chick at The Score.com.
Schroder will take a pass on that, the German Basketball Federation announced Wednesday.
“All this does not change my commitment to the German national team. The 2020 Olympics remains the focus,” the 22-year-old said in a statement in German on Twitter, as translated by The Atlanta Journal Constitution’s Chris Vivlamore.
Schroder is the new star of Germany’s national program, with Dirk Nowitzki announcing last year that he was retiring from international competition.
