After two games played for the Atlanta Hawks, second-year guard Trae Young is averaging a whopping 38.5 points per game, 9 assists per game and 7 rebounds per game. The Hawks are undefeated.
During a thrilling bout against the Orlando Magic on Saturday night, Young actually received “MVP” chants from a raucous State Farm Arena crowd, which was a pleasant surprise. Young seems to already be a beloved Atlanta sports figure at age 21, and his star should only continue to rise as the season progresses.
If he keeps up this level of play, it seems reasonable to expect Young to make the All-Star team in the Eastern Conference, and if he were somehow able to continue scoring the ball this way while leading the Hawks to the playoffs, might some MVP buzz actually make sense?
