With the NBA offseason entering its dog days, multiple stories about low-cost, low-risk flyers on players that might have untapped upside are filtering in. Recently, the Atlanta Hawks have become involved in contracts such as those.
First, the team signed former #5 overall pick Thomas Robinson to a non-guaranteed deal ahead of training camp.
Now, following up that sensible move, the Hawks have taken a flyer on R.J. Hunter, who was on a Two-Way contract last year with the Houston Rockets.
Hunter has also played for the Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics in his career, though perhaps his finest achievements came as a member of the hometown Georgia State Panthers NCAA Basketball team.
