According to Adrian Wojmarowski of The Vertical, the Atlanta Hawks have claimed point guard Jose Calderon off waivers.
Mark Stein of ESPN originally reported Atlanta’s interest in Calderon. Stein mentioned that Calderon was targeted by the Hawks upon his buyout from the Los Angeles Lakers this week and during his courtship by the Warriors.
Golden State did sign the Spaniard, but following the recent news on Kevin Durant‘s injury, was waived to open a roster spot for a player to compensate for Durant’s absence.
Atlanta will finally add a third point guard to a roster that has been missing one all season, with Dennis Schroder and Malcolm Delaney serving as the team’s only point guards.
