The Atlanta Hawks have been (very) quiet in early July but, on Wednesday morning, the silence broke with a reported trade involving the Memphis Grizzlies. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski brings word that the Hawks will acquire Chandler Parsons, with Solomon Hill and Miles Plumlee heading to Memphis.
In addition, Wojnarowski brings word that the Grizzlies and Parsons were working on a buyout which could, in theory, carry over to a similar discussion upon arrival in Atlanta.
Memphis and Parsons were unable to agree on a buyout number, so Grizzlies made the trade with Atlanta. As @BobbyMarks42 says, it's easier to move out salaries by breaking Parsons' $25M into two smaller contracts.
