Atlanta Hawks Head Coach Mike Budenholzer has taken an indefinite leave of absence from the team due to personal reasons, per reports from the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
Budenholzer left Boston Friday morning, to return to Atlanta to deal with what was refereed to by the team simply as a “family emergency.”
Atlanta’s top assistant Coach, Kenny Atkinson, will take over as the Hawks’ acting Head Coach in Mike Budenholzer’s absence.
The Hawk’s Kenny Atkinson was previously an assistant coach on the New York Knicks’ staff from 2008-2012. Atkinson has been a top Atlanta Hawks assistant since the beginning of the 2012 season.
