Draft day is always an extremely important time for every NBA team, and the Atlanta Hawks were one of the biggest stories in the 2018 NBA Draft due to their draft-day trade – moving Luka Doncic to the Mavericks for the rights to Trae Young and a future top five-protected pick.
While the lottery pick machinations certainly garnered most of the headlines, the Hawks also had the 19th overall pick in the draft for the second straight season (shouts to the Minnesota Timberwolves for that one), and with it, they selected 20-year-old Kevin Huerter out of Maryland.
