Atlanta Hawks point guard Dennis Schröder and Germany kicked off EuroBasket 2015 against Iceland on Saturday. Schröder poured in 15 points on 7-for-13 shooting. He also added 6 rebounds and 4 assists in a rather uninspired effort by the rest of the German team.

Germany still beat a subpar Iceland squad 71-65, but it was a performance that would have likely led to a loss if they had been playing a quality opponent like France, Spain, Serbia, Croatia, Turkey or even Greece. Still, for Hawks fans it has to be encouraging to watch Schröder play so well as a lead guard.
