The Atlanta Hawks jumped out to a 24-7 lead over the Boston Celtics at the end of the first quarter and never gave up that lead en route to an easy 89-72 win. The No. 4 seeded Hawks took a 2-0 series lead over the No. 5 seeded Celtics with the victory.
Neither team shot the ball very well, but the Celtics were downright awful from the field. They hit just 31.8 percent of their shots from the field and were 5 of 28 from beyond the arc. The Marcus Smart-Isaiah Thomas-Jae Crowder trio was a combined 6 of 25 from the field. Thomas had 16 points, Smart had 3 and Crowder had two.
The Hawks weren't great from the field, shooting 39 percent, but it was good enough to win. The Hawks also hit 11 of 29 3-pointers.
Kyle Korver led the way for the Hawks early. He had 12 points in the first quarter, all on 3-pointers, to outscore the entire Celtics team. He finished with 17 points and seven rebounds. Four other Hawks had double-figures, including Al Horford dropping 17 and Jeff Teague adding 13.
The other leading scorers for the Celtics were Evan Turner and Amir Johnson. They were the two of four players to reach double-figures, with Turner putting up 12 and Johnson dropping 14.
